Drive to be run soon to arrest extortionists: DMP chief

Making a list of extortionists is underway in a bid to conduct a drive to arrest them, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali.

The commissioner came up with the comment during a meeting at the Institution of Diploma Engineers in Kakrail on Saturday.

 Police officers, students and Ramna residents attended the meeting.

The DMP commissioner said that extortion is working behind the prices of daily necessities to surge, causing the sufferings of lower- and middle-income people.

He added that it is urgent now to resist the extortionists through a social movement.

He, however, uttered warning that no one involved in extortion would be spared.
