BB ex-deputy governor SK Sur, family members sued by ACC

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed three separate cases against former deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank (BB) SK Sur Chowdhury, his wife Suporna Sur Chowdhury and daughter Nandita Sur Chowdhury.

Deputy Director of the ACC Nazmul Hussain filed the cases on Monday against the accused for not submitting wealth statements within the stipulated time, deputy director (public relations) of the anti-graft body Md Akhtarul Islam told BSS.

"The three accused failed to submit their wealth statements under section 26 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004 (Act No. 5 of 2004). The ACC after probing the allegations against them, decided to file the cases as per its report," Md Akhtarul Islam added.

Earlier, the ACC issued notices against SK Sur Chowdhury and his family members for filing wealth statements.

Chowdhury is accused of misusing his positing by abetting former managing director of the then NRB Global Bank PK Halder in his loan scam.
