Probe body to submit primary report on Secretariat fire to CA on Monday

A high-powered committee formed to probe the Secretariat fire incident will submit its primary report to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Monday, said Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Abul Kamal Azad Majumder.

The Chief Adviser will decide whether report to be submitted will be revealed or not, Azad added while briefing media in front of the State Guest House Jamuna in the capital.

He also added that the probe into the fire incident will continue.

The probe body is collecting necessary evidences and samples from the spot, he also said.

Azad said if necessary, the evidences and samples would be sent abroad for test.

The probe body, in consultation with Chief Adviser Prof Yunus, will decide how long time it need to complete its probe into the fire incident, Azad told journalists while replying to a question.

On December 26, 2024, the government formed the eight-member probe body headed by senior secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs was asked to submit its primary report within three days.

Other members of the committee are:  the secretary of the Housing and Public Works Ministry, the Inspector General of police (IGP), chief of fire service defense (member secretary), explosive expert from armed forces, and three experts (civil, chemical and electronic engineers) Dr Tanvir Mansur, Dr Yasir Arafat and Yasir Arafat from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet).
