Secretariat fire originated from electrical spark: probe report

The committee formed to investigate into the devastating fire incident at Building 7 of Bangladesh Secretariat said that the fire caused due to a loose connection of an electrical wire.

Senior Home Secretary Nasimul Gani was briefing journalists at the Chief Adviser's Office after the report was submitted on Tuesday evening.

“The fire originated from electricity due to a loose connection,” he told the reporters.

Nasimul Gani informed that several teams comprising experts from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Fire Service and Civil Defence, Bangladesh Army's bomb squad and sniffer dogs, and the Criminal Investigation Department contributed to the investigation.

The investigation body, so far, did not find the involvement of any individual in the fire.
