90 fishermen detained by India return

Bangladesh Coast Guard has returned 90 fishermen detained by India to their families. 

The fishermen were handed over to their families at the Coast Guard jetty at Patenga in Chattogram on Tuesday. Previously, the ship carrying them reached Chattogram. 

Fishermen and their families have expressed their relief at the end of their near month-long detention. 

According to Coast Guard East Zone Commander Captain Md Zairul Haque, the Bangladeshi fishing boat FV Koushik capsized on September 9. Indian Coast Guard rescued and brought them to India. Later on December 9, two ships named FV Laila-2 and FV Meghna-5 were also seized by the Indian forces for allegedly fishing inside Indian waters. 

Later, a bilateral agreement was reached for the exchange of fishermen between the two countries.
