Bus-ambulance collision kills 4 people in Savar

A road accident between an ambulance and two buses has killed four people and injured at least seven in Savar. 

The accident occurred in front of Fulbaria Police Town at Savar on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway at around 2am on Thursday. 

According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD), the ambulance was hit from behind by two buses. The collision caused the ambulance's cylinder to explode. A fire quickly spread to all three vehicles. 

Highway Police said the two firefighting units reached the spot and brought the fire under control after about an hour. 

The fire service recovered the charred remains of four people from the ambulance, Savar FSCD in-charge Meherul Islam said.

However, since bodies became charred, their identity could not be confirmed, Savar Highway Police Station Officer in Charge (OC) Showkatul Alam said. The bodies were sent to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital for identification and autopsy.
