Ex-NBR member Matiur Rahman, wife arrested in Dhaka

Detective Branch (DB) of police have arrested  former member of National Board of Revenue (NBR) Motiur Rahman and his wife former Upazila chairman Laila Kaniz from the capital's Bashundhara area.

"We arrested the couple in the early hours of Wednesday in specific charges as they were accused in a number of cases," DB Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman told BSS.

Matiur became a subject of controversy due to a high-profile sacrificial goat.

The arrestees will be sent to the court later the same day.

Matiur was accused in number of cases, including two graft cases, filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on charges of amassing wealth illegally on December 15, 2024.
