Talks with political parties on July Proclamation begins

Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has begun talks with political parties to decide the content and announcement date of the July Proclamation based on a national consensus.

The meeting started at around 4:30pm on Thursday at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital.

The discussion is likely to keep on until this evening.

The chief adviser was seen to enter the scene at around 4:15pm.

Earlier, the representatives of various political parties, including the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jamaat-e-Islami, had arrived to attend the meeting.

Besides, representatives of Gono Odhikar Parishad, Islami Andolan Bangladesh, AB Party, and Nationalist Democratic Movement are also attending the dialogue.

BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed attended the meeting.

A four-member delegation led by Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, a two-member delegation led by Islami Andolan Joint Secretary General Gazi Ataur Rahman, National Citizens' Committee Convener Nasir Uddin Patwari and Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Member Secretary Arif Sohel and Chief Organiser Abdul Hannan Masud are attending the meeting.

Besides, the representatives who are attending the meeting include  Ganasanhati Andolan Chief Coordinator Zonayed Saki, Rashtra Sangskar Andolan Coordinator Hasnat Kaiyum, JSD General Secretary Shahid Uddin Mahmud Swapan, a three-member delegation led by Khelafat Majlis Secretary General Ahmad Abdul Quader, Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur, Basad (Marxist) Coordinator Masud Rana, and Gono Front's Kamruzzaman.

The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the 12-Party Alliance are not attending the meeting.
