SC suspends bail of journalist couple Shakil, Rupa

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) has suspended the bail of the journalist couple Shakil Ahmed and Farzana Rupa granted by the High Court (HC) in a garment worker Rubel murder case.

Justice Md. Rezaul Haque of the Appellate Division regular bench passed the order and fixed February 10 for a hearing.

Additional Attorney General Barrister Aneek R. Haque, who moved for the state, confirmed the development while lawyer Mamun Mahbub represented the accused in the hearing.

The HC on January 20 granted the bail for the journalist couple. The state later filed a petition seeking suspension of the bail.
