Police charge batons, use water canons on teachers at Shahbagh

Police have charged batons, lobbed tear gas shells, and used water canons at a gathering of teachers calling for the nationalisation of Independent Ebtedayi Madrasahs on Sunday. 

The incident happened at around 1pm at the Shahbagh intersection of the capital. Several teachers were injured. 

Confirming the matter, Shahbagh Police Station Officer in Charge Khalid Monsur said, the teachers were trying to break a police barricade, so they were dispersed. They were not attacked.
