Govt’s door is open for talks on staff demands: Railways Adviser

The government’s door is always open for talks on the demands of the railway staff, said Railways Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan on Tuesday.

He made the statement while visiting Kamalapur Railway Station.

“If needed, we will sit with them again and their demands will also be tabled with the finance division,” he said.

The Railways Advisor said that the programme of Bangladesh Railway's on-duty staff holding the passengers as hostage is regrettable. 

The common people are suffering much due to strike of the railway staff, he added. 

The demand of the staff for mileage allowance has been pending for a long time, he said, adding that the government has already fulfilled many of their demands. 

“We are ready to discuss the remaining demands,” he continued.

He reminded the staffers saying that railways aren’t anyone's private property, and here is chance for talk.

BRTC Chairman Tajul Islam, Railways Secretary Md. Fahimul Islam, Railway Dhaka Divisional Manager Mohammad Mohiuddin Arif and other senior railway officials were present at the time.
