Govt to procure fertilizer, diesel from Morocco, India

The government has given approval to separate proposals for procuring fertilizer and diesel from Morocco and India respectively to address domestic demands and stabilize markets.

The approvals came from the 5th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase (ACCGP) held at the Cabinet Division conference room at Bangladesh Secretariat.

The meeting was chaired by Adviser to the Ministry of Finance Dr Salehuddin Ahmed.

Following a proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) would procure 30,000 metric tons (MTs) of TSP fertilizer under state-level agreement from OCP NUTRICROPS, Morocco.

It will cost around Tk161.04 crore with per ton fertilizer cost $440.

In response to a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) will import 130,000 MTs of diesel from India with a cost of Tk 1,137.96 crore.

Indian Numaligarh Refinery Limited will supply the bulk diesel.
