20.3% people in Bangladesh live below poverty line

The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) has said 20.3 per cent of people in Bangladesh are living below the poverty line. The information was revealed in the 'Poverty Maps of Bangladesh 2022' on Thursday. 

According to the maps, poverty has lessened in the rural areas but increased in the urban areas. 

The poorest area in the country was found to be Dasar Upazila of Madaripur. On the other hand, Dhaka's Paltan was the least poor area. The richest district was Noakhali.
