More than 1,000 icddr,b staff laid off

The International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) has laid off 20 per cent of its workforce, more than 1,000 staff, due to the United States pulling back financial assistance. 

On condition of anonymity, multiple officials at the icddr,b confirmed the matter to the Daily Samakal on Friday morning. 

According to the sources, almost all the projects financed by USAID were terminated and the staff working under those projects were laid off.
