Court orders to freeze 15 bank accounts of Adv Qamrul

A Dhaka court has ordered to freeze 15 bank accounts of former food minister Advocate Qamrul Islam over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Wednesday.

Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) submitted a plea to the court. 

According to the ACC plea, there are graft cases pending against the former minister and his bank accounts, which have Tk3,55, 10,183, should be frozen for the sake of proper investigation.

On November 18, Advocate Qamrul Islam was arrested from a house in the capital's Uttara-12 area.

Qamrul Islam has been shown arrested in a couple of cases filed over crimes committed in July-August mass uprising.

He is now behind bars.
