Court for freezing 56 bank accounts of ex-minister Sadhan

A Dhaka court has ordered to freeze 56 bank accounts of Sadhan Chandra Majumder, former food minister, over graft allegations.

Allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Sunday. 

In the plea, the anti-graft body said the former minister is trying to hand over or transfer his ill-gotten money from these 56 bank accounts. 

If he effectively manages to do this, it may hinder the trial against him and these accounts should be frozen without delay, it added.

On January 23, the same court ordered to grab the income tax files of Sadhan Chandra Majumder.

On October 3, 2024, Detective branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested Sadhan Chandra Majumder from the capital's Bhatara area. 

He has been shown arrested in different cases and has already been placed on different terms of remand.
