DIG Molla Nazrul on 5-day remand in murder attempt case

A Dhaka court has placed former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Molla Nazrul Islam on a five-day remand in a attempt to murder case.

A case was lodged over a college-student Fahim Hossain Zubayer during the July-August mass uprising.

Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sanaullah passed the order on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to place him on a seven-day remand in the case.

Molla Nazrul Islam, former commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP), was detained from Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi, on Saturday night.
