ICT sends ASP Javed to jail over July-August uprising crimes

 The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has sent Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Javed Iqbal to jail in a murder case. The murder was committed during the July-August uprising.

Allowing a plea of the prosecution, the two-member tribunal led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed the order.

Javed, who was an assistant commissioner of the detective branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) during the mass uprising, was arrested at 4:00 pm from the capital’s Mohammadpur area on Tuesday. 

He was produced before the tribunal this evening, prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim said.

Earlier, the ICT had issued an arrest warrant against him this morning.
