Police disperse protesters at Shahbagh using water canon

Police have charged batons on a gathering of protesting teachers at the capital's Shahbagh. The protesters were dispersed, and 13 of them were detained, according to a source. 

A number of teachers who are aspirants or referred to be registered with the Non-Government Teachers Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) blocked the Shahbagh intersection on Thursday afternoon, halting traffic in the area. 

Police started trying to disperse the teachers at around 2:30pm. At one point, police started using a water canon on them. Moving from the Shahbagh intersection, the protesters gathered in front of the National Museum.
