Police verification no longer required for passports: Yunus

Police verification will no longer be necessary for passport issuance, removing needless harassment for citizens, said Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Sunday.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the District Commissioner (DC) Conference at the Chief Adviser's Office this morning, Yunus put stress on the government's pledge to dropping bureaucratic hurdles.

"There is no need for such harassment anymore," he said.

Yunus added that the government's role is not to create obstacles but to deliver citizens' rights to their doorstep.
