Court freezes bank accounts of ex-state minister Zakir, imposes travel ban

A Dhaka court has asked to freeze nine bank accounts, attach approximate 137 decimals of land of former state minister for primary and mass education Zakir Hossain and imposed travel ban on him over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, the court allowed two separate petitions of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

In one plea, the ACC said it has filed a graft case against Zakir on January 21 for amassing illegal wealth and for this he should be barred from leaving the country for the sake of proper inquiry of the case.

The anti-graft body also pleaded to freeze, seize, and attach his movable and immovable assets.
