Travel ban imposed on Lotus Kamal, family members

A Dhaka court has enforced a travel ban on former finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal alias Lotus Kamal, his wife Kashmiri Kamal and two daughters - Kashfi Kamal and Nafisa Kamal - over graft allegations.

Granting a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Tuesday.

The court's verdict came within a week of lodging four graft cases against the accused.

The ACC on February 13 filed the cases against them for gathering illegal wealth of Tk167.56 crore and making doubtful transactions of Tk850 crore.

The anti-graft body in its plea mentioned that it is probing the cases against Kamal and his family members and travel embargo should be imposed on them for the sake of accurate inquiry.
