Shots fired at joint forces in Mohammadpur, 2 dead, 5 arrested: ISPR

Terrorists opened fire at a team of joint forces during its drive in the Chad Uddan area of Mohammadpur in the capital responding to information that a gang was preparing to commit robbery there early on Thursday.

"Terrorists from the roof of a one-story building opened fire at a team of joint forces as it surrounded both sides of an alley during a drive in Chad Uddan area of Mohammadpur here on information that a gang is preparing to commit robbery there at 12:30 am," an ISPR release said.

The team has immediately taken countermeasures for self-defence and has been able to arrest five terrorists with arms, it said.

Later, two bodies were recovered while searching the building roof as a pistol, four rounds of bullets and a machete were also seized from the possessions of the arrestees, the ISPR release added.

The arrested terrorists were handed over to Mohammadpur Police Station for legal action later.

Such drive will continue to protect people's lives and properties, the release said.
