Businessman shot in Banasree, 200 bhori gold looted

Miscreants shot a businessman and looted nearly 200 bhori gold and Tk 1 lakh cash from him in the Banasree area of the capital on Sunday night. 

The incident happened in front of the House no. 20 at Road no. 7 in the D Block of Banasree at around 10:30pm. The victim was identified as Anwar Hossain, 43. He runs a gold shop and he usually walks home from the shop every night. 

Locals recorded the crime scene from nearby buildings. The footage became viral on social media overnight. 

As seen in the footage, three bikers were trying to snatch the businessman's bag. At one point, they shot him and took away the bag, fleeing on their motorcycles. 

Anwar said the miscreants were likely following him from the shop, so he snatched away the bag as soon as he arrived home. 

Mojibur Rahman, a friend of Anwar, told the Daily Samakal that the victim was shot four times. He was also slashed with a sharp weapon in six places of his body. 

Rampur Police Station Inspector Moshiul Alam told the Daily Samakal that Anwar was taken to Farazi Hospital at Banasree at first. Later he was admitted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
