US to send back undocumented Bangladeshis

As part of new immigration policy, the Trump administration has informed Bangladesh to send back irregular Bangladeshis living in the United States.

Following the issue, the home ministry held an inter-ministerial meeting on Wednesday to discuss the repatriation process. 

Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury chaired the meeting.

Foreign Ministry officials said Bangladesh is willing to take its own citizens. 

However, the US administration has already been requested not to send undocumented Bangladeshis back in a dishonorable manner, with their hands and feet shackled like the Indians, said the sources. 

They added that the US administration also does not want to do anything like that in the case of illegal Bangladeshis.
