RMG worker dies in Banani, protesters block road

A female worker of an RMG factory died in a road accident in the Banani area of the capital early on Monday. As a result, RMG workers have blocked the road in Banani, causing massive traffic in Banani and the adjacent areas. The blockade was lifted later in the afternoon. 

According to the traffic division of Gulshan police, a female RMG worker died in a road accident around 6am on Monday at the U-turn incoming of the Banani Chairmanbari area. It is not yet certain which vehicle caused the accident. 

Another woman and a child were also injured in the incident. However, the identity of any of the victims could not be found immediately. 

After the worker's death, protesting RMG workers blocked both sides of the road in the Banani Charimanbari area. 

Banani Police Station Officer in Charge Russel Sarowar told the Daily Samakal that police are trying to disperse the protesting workers. 

The workers agreed to lift the blockade at around 1:30pm.
