'Dhaka Central University' to be formed with 7 DU-affiliated colleges

A new university named 'Dhaka Central University' will be established with the 7 colleges which are now operated under the University of Dhaka. 

The decision was taken at a meeting with the 32-member student delegation at the University Grants Commission (UGC) Bhaban in Dhaka's Agargaon on Sunday. 

Confirming the matter, UGC Secretary Dr Fakhrul Islam told the media that the name was picked from a list and it will now be sent to the education ministry. After it is passed by the advisory council, with the consent of the president a notification will be issued in this connection. 

The seven colleges are- Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Begum Badrunnesa Government College, Government Bangla College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Government Titumir College, and Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College.
