Metro rail running despite worker strike

Workers of the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) went on an indefinite strike on Monday after MRT police allegedly harassed four workers. The strike will continue until the involved police members are permanently dismissed, they announced. 

Considering the passengers' comfort, the DMTCL authority has decided to keep the Dhaka Metro Rail running. As a result, while the counters were open, the workers were not selling single journey tickets. Passengers were able to board the metro rail without any fare. 

Sales of single-journey tickets for the metro rail resumed at 9:30am after a two-and-a-half-hour suspension.
