Govt to send two letters to US administration over tariff issue within 48 hours

Bangladesh is set to send two letters to the US administration within two days, outlining its position and action plan to address the tariffs imposed by President Trump on exports to the US. 

The decision was made at a meeting at the finance ministry in Dhaka, attended by advisers, senior government officials, private sector exporters, manufacturers, and trade experts. 

Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus will write one letter to US President Donald J Trump, while Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin will address the other to the US Trade Representative. 

The government plans to reduce the trade gap by increasing imports from the US, hoping that the US administration will reduce tariffs on Bangladeshi goods.
