ACC to file cases against Hasan Mahmud, his wife on graft charges

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will file two separate cases against ex-MP from Chattogram -7 constituency and former foreign minister Dr Hasan Mahmud and his wife Nurun Fatema Hasan. 

The ACC Chairman, Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen, stated that the couple has been accused of acquiring wealth misusing power, which is inconsistent with their declared income. 

A preliminary investigation revealed that Mahmud amassed about Tk39 crore using state-power, and suspicious transactions were made through his nine bank accounts. 

The ACC has decided to file another case against Mahmud and his wife Nurun Fatema Hasan, as the investigation found illegal and suspicious transactions through 56 bank accounts involving about Tk683 crore.
