EC warns against deceptive Facebook NID service ads

The Election Commission (EC) has urged the public not to fall into deceptive Facebook advertisements promoting NID-related services.

A media release issued by the EC secretariat on Monday said recently, it has observed numerous fake IDs and Facebook pages on social media platforms, which are misleading people by advertising NID-related services, which is highly unwanted.

It said official information and video content about voter list updates and national identity cards are regularly shared through two authorized pages: Bangladesh Election Commission Secretariat 

(http://www.facebook.com/@BangladehECS) and the National Identity Registration Division and IDEA Project (Phase 2)-run NID card (page link: http://www.facebook.com/bd.nid)

All the people are advised to avoid all other Facebook pages promoting NID-related services and to refrain from being misled by such advertisements.
