Govt appoints Sufiur Rahman as special assistant to CA Yunus

Mohammad Sufiur Rahman, a retired diplomat, has been appointed as special assistant to the chief adviser of the interim government.

The Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification in this regard on Sunday.

The notification reads that Sufiur Rahman will hold the rank and status of a state minister. 

Under the Rules of Business, 1996, he has been delegated executive authority over the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assist the adviser, it added.

Sufiur will receive the salary, allowances, and all other facilities entitled to a state minister during his service in this role.  

Sufiur Rahman served as the Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations Office at Geneva.

He also served as Ambassador to Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji, and High Commissioner to Australia and Sri Lanka.
