Muggers in moving car grabbed woman's bag and dragged her

Farhana Akhter Jahan, a 44-year-old teacher at Gazipur Bangabandhu Government College, was mugged and dragged away after muggers grabbed her bag from a moving car in Dhaka’s Siddheshwari area on Saturday morning. 

The incident occurred in front of her residence at Greenland Tower while she was waiting for a car to attend college training. 

A viral social media video showed a car approaching Farhana, with someone inside swiftly snatching her bag, dragging her briefly as the car sped off. 

However, her trolley bag was left behind. 

Farhana sustained serious injuries, including visible wounds on her elbow. 

Three bystanders rushed to assist; one stood by the trolley bag, while the others approached her. 

Within 50 seconds, Farhana was seen standing and talking to four people at the scene. 

Abdullah Al Mamun, Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Ramna Zone Assistant Commissioner, confirmed that they noticed the video on Facebook.

"We are investigating the site," he added.

No case has been filed yet, but the victim has been contacted, Mamun continued.
