Case against Iresh Zaker deeply troubling: Farooki

A case was filed against actor Iresh Zaker and 407 others in connection with the murder of Mahfuz Alam Srabon in Mirpur of the Capital during the anti-discrimination student movement last year. Such a case against Iresh Zaker is deeply troubling, cultural adviser Mostofar Sarwar Farooki has said. 

While speaking to journalists on Monday (28 April), he said, "Now I am part of a government, not an activist, so I have to speak less and work more. I know Iresh Zaker personally. I know he was also involved in the July uprising. So this case against him is deeply disturbing, deeply troubling."

He added, "I hope police will conduct a just investigation, be on the side of truth and reject the lie."

The case was filed by Mahfuz Alam Srabon's brother Mostafizur Rahman Bappi on 20 April.
