Novoair flights 'temporarily' suspended

Domestic airline Novoair has temporarily suspended its flights starting Friday, with no clear timeline for resumption. 

Ticket sellers lack specific information in this regard. 

Sources suggest the suspension is linked to ongoing talks to sell the airline to a foreign company, though no final decision has been made yet. 

An audit is in progress, said a Novoair official, speaking anonymously. The official confirmed that the company is selling five ATR aircraft, with the process expected to conclude this month. 

Civil Aviation Authority Chairman Manjur Kabir Bhuiyan stated the suspension is due to economic challenges, with operations potentially resuming in two weeks if resolved. 

Ticket sales halted on April 20 but briefly resumed before stopping again, and online booking is currently unavailable. 

Novoair operates daily flights from Dhaka to Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet, Jessore, Saidpur, and Rajshahi. 

Its only international route to Kolkata has been suspended since September due to low passenger demand.
