Dhaka prefers peace in South Asia: Foreign Affairs Adviser

Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain said Dhaka seeks to avoid conflict in South Asia.

He emphasised resolution on any problem through dialogue. 

He was talking to reporters at the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday evening.

He addressed a call from the Pakistani Foreign Minister, who briefed him on an incident and Pakistan’s actions without requesting cooperation. 

Touhid Hossain stressed Bangladesh’s desire for peace and de-escalation, urging against actions that could heighten tensions. 

On whether Dhaka would convey this to Delhi, he noted that Dhaka would share the same message if asked, but would not initiate contact. 

Following Islamabad’s call, Dhaka reiterated its commitment to peace and avoidance of conflict, he continued.
