Former Narayanganj Mayor Ivy sent to jail

A court has sent former Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) Mayor Dr Selina Hayat Ivy in connection with the murder of Minarul in Siddhirganj. She was arrested from her residence early on Friday.

Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Mainuddin Quader's court passed the order after holding a hearing of the case on Friday. The next hearing will be held on May 26. 

Police detained Selina Hayat Ivy from ‘Chunka Kutir’ in Deobhog around 3am, citing multiple charges including murder, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station Nasir Uddin confirmed. She left with police at around 5:30am. 

Around 11pm on Thursday, a police team from Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station arrived at Ivy's home, and the news quickly spread, triggering protests. 

Her supporters blocked four roads to prevent police access to the area.

Announcements from nearby mosques urged people to gather in front of Ivy's house in solidarity, creating a tense atmosphere that persisted throughout the night.
