Probe body formed over murder of DU student

Dhaka University (DU) has formed a seven-member probe body to investigate the death of Shahriar Alam Shammo, a DU student and Chhatra Dal leader.

Shammo was stabbed to death by unidentified miscreants on DU campus on Tuesday night.

Prof Dr Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, will lead the committee.

The body has been asked to submit its findings within the next three working days.

Other members of the committee include  Prof Dr Mohammad Ikramul Haque, Dean of the Faculty of Law; Prof Dr Taiyebur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Prof Dr Md Sirajul Islam, Provost of Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall; and Professor Dr Md Abul Kalam Sarkar of the Department of Persian Language and Literature.

Assistant Proctor Sharmin Kabir has been made the committee's member-secretary.

The Deputy Registrar (Investigation) has been assigned to provide secretarial support.
