3 land in jail over DU student murder

A Dhaka court has sent three individuals to jail over the murder of Dhaka University (DU) student and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader Shahriar Alam Shammo.

Shammo was a student of the 2018-19 academic session of International Relations Department at Dhaka University.

The three accused, who were sent to jail, are Md Tamim Hawlader, Palash Sardar and Samrat Mallik.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jamsed Alam passed the order as police produced the trio before the court, seeking court order to keep them behind bars till the end of probe in the case.

A team of Shahbagh Police Station arrested the three miscreants from the city's Green Road and Rajabazar area early Wednesday.

Shahriar Alam Shammo, 25 was fatally stabbed to death at Suhrawardi Udyan area adjacent to the university campus on Tuesday night.
