Ishraque's supporters lock all gates of Nagar Bhavan, protest to continue on Sunday

Ishraque Hossain's supporters have locked all the gates of Nagar Bhaban, the head office of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

They have shut down all the activities of the South City Corporation and the Local Government Ministry in Nagar Bhaban.

Although the two main gates of Nagar Bhaban were locked last Thursday, all the entrance gates and stairs to the building were locked this Saturday morning. All the lifts to and from the building were also kept closed.

The step was taken by Ishraque Hossain's supporters and followers who participated in the protest under the banner of 'Dhakabasi' to protest against not appointing him as mayor.

The protesters said that they have locked a total of 65 locks in Nagar Bhaban.

Several DSCC officials said, "The activities of Nagar Bhaban have basically been closed since Thursday. Even the officials and employees of the Local Government Ministry residing in this building are not able to enter the building. Even the vehicles to bring and pick them up are not able to leave the corporation. These two days, we have to go back from the gate of the building. Only the activities of the regional office and activities outside the Nagar Bhaban are going on."

Meanwhile, a long march started from in front of the Nagar Bhaban of Dhaka South City Corporation in Gulistan at around 11:30 am today towards the secretariat.

The long march procession passed through Gulistan Mazar, Zero Point, Paltan and reached the secretariat via the National Press Club when it was stopped by the police.

Later, during the protest in front of the Nagar Bhaban, former senior secretary Mashiur Rahman, who leads the ‘Dhakabasi’ platform, an organization of Ishraque Hossain’s supporters, warned that Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan and his secretary Rezaul Maksud Zahedi will be resisted wherever they are found.

He also said that their protest program will continue on Sunday as well.
