Turkish airlines flight makes emergency landing in Dhaka after bird strike

A Turkish Airlines flight (TK713) bound for Istanbul, carrying 280 passengers, made an emergency landing back at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka on Tuesday morning after a bird strike shortly after takeoff at 7:09 am.

Smoke was observed from the right engine, prompting the pilot to safely return the aircraft to HSIA by 8:01 am, according to HSIA Executive Director Group Captain S M Ragib Samad.

All 280 passengers and crew members were unhurt, Samad confirmed.

The passengers have been accommodated in nearby hotels, with arrangements made for an alternative flight to their destinations.

In a press statement, Turkish Airlines’ Dhaka office confirmed the aircraft returned to HSIA due to a bird strike on engine number two. The airline said that all passengers, crew, and the aircraft are safe. Repairs are underway, and passengers are being cared for at nearby hotels for their comfort.
