NCP will not allow holding any polls sans EC restructure: Nasiruddin Patwari

Jatiya Nagorik Party Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari has said that the current Election Commission has become the party office of BNP.

He said, “NCP will not allow holding any voting without EC restructuring. Local government elections will be held before the national elections.”

“As long as we are alive, we will not move without EC construction, he added.

He made the warning at a protest programme of Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) in Agargaon in the capital on Wednesday demanding the restructuring of the Election Commission (EC) and immediate local government elections.

More than 150 NCP leaders and activists were present at the rally.

NCP’s Secretary General Akhtar Hossain announced today's protest programme at a press conference at its central office in Bangla Motor in the capital on Tuesday night.

At the rally, NCP leaders demanded immediate reconstitution of the EC and local government elections. Otherwise, they will boycott the elections.

Around 1:15 pm, NCP leaders broke the police barricade and took up positions at the main gate of the Election Building. 

At that time, they raised various slogans against the EC.
