Former MP Momtaz on 6-day remand

Two courts in Manikganj have placed former Manikganj lawmaker and eminent singer Momtaz Begum on a total of six days of remand in two separate cases. 

At around 11am on Thursday, Manikganj Chief Judicial Magistrate (Court-3) Ivy Akhtar placed the former MP on a two-day remand in a vandalism case.

Later, Senior Judicial Magistrate (Court-1) Muhammad Abdun Noor placed her on a four-day remand in a 2013 killing case. 

BNP supporters were protesting outside the court and they lobbed eggs at the singer when she was entering the prison van. 

On May 12, detectives arrested Momtaz from the capital's Dhanmondi area. Later, she was put on a four-day remand in connection with the Sagor murder case under Mirpur Model thana.
