Primary teachers going on full-day strike Monday

Teachers of Government Primary Schools have announced a full-day work abstention from Monday. The strike will continue till their three-point demand is met, they said. 

The strike will be carried out under the banner of 'Primary Assistant Teachers Association Unity Council.’ Their half-day strike will end on Sunday and the full-day strike will start Monday. 

The council's Chairman Mohammad Shamsuddin told the Daily Samakal that the strike will continue till their demands are met. 

Their demands are—fixing assistant teacher positions as entry-level positions in all government primary schools; upgrading assistant teachers’ salaries to the 11th grade; removing the existing barriers to achieving higher grades for the teachers who are 10 years and 16 years into the job; making provision that all head teachers will be appointed from the pool of assistant teachers through promotion; and making provision for quicker promotion.
