HC dismissed writ challenging legality of Women Affairs Reform Commission recommendations

The High Court has dismissed a writ petition filed challenging the legality of several recommendations made by the Women's Affairs Reform Commission in its report.

A High Court bench of Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Sikder Mahmudur Razi gave the order on Monday. 

The High Court observed that the recommendations have not been realised yet. It is premature. Once the government has realised the recommendations, the person who filed the writ may come back to the court. 

Supreme Court lawyer Rowshan Ali filed the writ on May 4, saying a couple of recommendations made by the commission are contrary to the constitution, the values of the country's religious people and Sharia.

The three relevant ministries and the chief of the Women's Affairs Reform Commission were made to respondents in the writ.
