Protests at the Secretariat, SWAT-BGB deployed for security

The Secretariat area is experiencing heightened tension due to ongoing protests by employees demanding the repeal of the Public Service (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025.

On Tuesday morning, employees were seen marching within the Secretariat premises. Hundreds of workers from various ministries and departments have gathered in front of the Cabinet Division (near the new building) to raise their demands.

Stringent security measures were taken to handle the protests. SWAT forces are deployed at the Secretariat’s main gate, while Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel are stationed outside the premises. Entry to the Secretariat is restricted to officials and employees only, with no outsiders permitted.

The Home Ministry announced on Monday that visitor access to the Secretariat would be barred today.

Police officials on duty noted that a decision regarding journalists’ entry will be made around 12 noon.

This marks the third consecutive day of protests inside the Secretariat, with employees continuing to press their demands. They have planned another protest march today and have urged government employees nationwide to hold similar demonstrations.

From now on, all employee organizations within the Secretariat will unite under the banner of the "Bangladesh Secretariat Officer-Employee Unity Forum" to continue their movement.
