Govt employees' protest suspended

The ongoing protest at the Secretariat, calling for the repeal of the 'Government Services (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025,' has been suspended for the time being. 

The decision was made on Tuesday following four days of continuous demonstrations. 

After a meeting with the protesting employees, Land Secretary ASM Saleh Ahmed announced that he would meet with the Cabinet Secretary on Wednesday to address the employees' demands, urging them to suspend the movement temporarily.

Consequently, the announced protest at the Secretariat for Wednesday morning has been suspended.

Meanwhile, Md. Badiul Kabir, President of the Bangladesh Secretariat Joint Officers- Employees Unity Council, said that the protest would remain on hold pending discussions with the Cabinet Secretary. 

However, he warned that protest would resume on Thursday if the demands are not met.

Earlier on Tuesday, the protesting Secretariat employees met with five secretaries, led by Senior Secretary ASM Saleh Ahmed, in the conference room of the Ministry of Land at the Secretariat.
