Youth killed in BSF firing at Kulaura border

A Bangladeshi youth, Pradeep Baidya, was killed in a shooting by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) near the Dattagram border in Sharifpur union under Kulaura upazila in Moulvibazar. 

The incident took place on Saturday night near Pillar No. 57 of the India-Bangladesh border in the Debipur area of Rangauti gram panchayat under Kailashahar in Unkoti district, Tripura, India.

Pradeep, son of Shailendra Baidya from Nishchintapur village in Sharifpur union, was shot in the left leg by BSF and died due to excessive blood loss, according to Sharifpur Union Parishad member Azizul Haque Durud. 

The body is currently at Kailashahar Hospital in India, Durud confirmed.

Lieutenant Colonel A.S.M. Zakaria, commander of 46 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), stated that they learned of the incident through local reports but have not received any formal complaint or missing person report. 

The BSF has also not provided any official communication regarding the incident.
