Bangladesh receives $2.97 billion remittances in May

Bangladesh recorded $2.97 billion in remittances in May, the second-highest monthly inflow ever, as per Bangladesh Bank data.

The spike, driven by expatriates sending funds for Eid-ul-Azha, follows the record high of $3.29 billion in March 2025, ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Compared to May 2024’s $2.25 billion, this year’s figure reflects a 31.7 percent year-on-year increase.

For the first 11 months of the current fiscal year (July–May), total remittances reached $27.51 billion, up 28.7 percewntfrom $21.37 billion in the same period last year.
