Tk100 crore allocations for climate change risks

Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed has proposed a Tk100 crore allocation to face the risks of climate change in the country in the upcoming fiscal year 2025-26.

While presenting the budget, the adviser said, "Bangladesh is at the top of the list of countries most at risk from the effects of climate change."

"To combat the negative effects of climate change, activities are being taken through the Climate Change Trust Fund to prevent air, water and soil pollution, waste management and environmental development, climate change mitigation, health protection impact assessment, increasing women's adaptive capacity, coastal ecosystem assessment, increasing the capacity of the media to achieve climate resilience, etc," he added.

He also said, "Considering the depth and importance of the risks of climate change, I propose to allocate Tk100 crore in the next fiscal year to take the necessary activities."
